Portfolio Solutions Underwriter in London

You will join a team in developing and underwriting innovative insurance solutions tailored to portfolio underwriting. You will collaborate closely with brokers, clients, actuaries, and internal stakeholders to assess and structure deals that span multiple lines of business and geographies. This role demands strong analytical skills, commercial acumen, and a deep understanding of risk aggregation and portfolio dynamics.

• Underwriting & Structuring: Evaluate and underwrite portfolio-based insurance solutions on a cross-class basis. Underwrite the portfolio through a number of different distribution channels including broker facilities, algorithmic platforms, consortia and coverholders. Develop and maintain a pipeline of new underwriting opportunities through market research and liaison with brokers and clients.
• Portfolio Analysis: Conduct in-depth analysis of client portfolios using actuarial, statistical and modelling tools and functions. Triage new submissions to ensure alignment to Companies underwriting appetite and data/information quality requirements. Identify trends, correlations, and diversification benefits to inform underwriting decisions. Support the data capture, analysis and statistical reporting across the Portfolio Solutions accounts. Monitor performance and aggregations. Aid the resolution of any escalated issues. Assist with external and internal reporting requirements.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with brokers and clients to understand their portfolio needs and risk strategies. Liaise with internal teams including underwriting, actuarial, compliance, exposure management and claims to ensure deal integrity. Build a network of key relationships throughout the market including brokers, underwriters, MGAs, technology providers and digital platforms.
• Innovation & Development: Monitor market trends and competitor activity to maintain a competitive edge. Identify developments in placement strategies and market digitisation, including advances in algorithmic underwriting, to determine best practices for accessing and underwriting in-scope business.
• Governance & Compliance: Ensure all underwriting activities comply with regulatory requirements and internal policies. Maintain accurate documentation and audit trails for all deals.

You will need:

• Experience underwriting portfolio-based insurance solutions on a cross-class basis
• In-depth analysis of client portfolios using actuarial, statistical and modelling tools and functions
• Strong relationship management skills able to forge equitable relationships throughout the market including brokers, underwriters, MGAs, technology providers and digital platforms
• Technically competent able to identify developments in placement strategies and market digitisation, including advances in algorithmic underwriting, to determine best practices for accessing and underwriting in-scope business
• You should be a Graduate/Graduate level
