Head of IT Infrastructure & Security
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Head of IT Infrastructure & Security to lead the strategy, delivery, resilience and security of our technology environment.
This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for ensuring our infrastructure, networks, systems and information assets are secure, resilient, scalable and aligned with business objectives.
You will act as the senior authority across IT infrastructure and cybersecurity, working closely with senior stakeholders and business leaders to shape technology strategy, manage risk, drive operational excellence and support long-term digital growth.
Previous experience within the Lloyd’s of London / London Insurance Market is essential for this role.
Key Responsibilities
IT Strategy & Leadership
- Develop and execute the organisation's IT infrastructure and security strategy.
- Lead long-term technology planning, transformation and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Advise senior leadership on technology, infrastructure, cybersecurity and emerging trends.
- Promote a strong culture of infrastructure resilience, cybersecurity awareness and accountability.
Infrastructure & IT Operations
- Lead the design, implementation and ongoing management of IT infrastructure, networks and core systems.
- Ensure high availability, performance, resilience and reliability of critical technology services.
- Oversee IT service delivery, incident management and operational support.
- Develop and maintain robust disaster recovery and business continuity capabilities.
- Establish and maintain effective IT policies, standards, procedures and operational controls.
Cybersecurity, Risk & Compliance
- Own and develop the organisation's cybersecurity strategy.
- Protect information assets and ensure appropriate security controls are implemented and maintained.
- Lead technology and information security risk assessments and remediation programmes.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory, data protection, SOX and industry requirements.
- Maintain and deliver an effective Group Information Security policy and security awareness/training programme.
Change & Project Management
- Own the IT infrastructure change management framework.
- Ensure robust change control and governance across infrastructure and technology initiatives.
- Lead major infrastructure projects, upgrades, migrations and technology rollouts.
- Support RFP and tender processes, defining requirements and working with internal stakeholders and suppliers.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.
Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing IT infrastructure and security team.
- Manage resource planning, recruitment, performance and professional development.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, innovation and continuous improvement.
Budget & Vendor Management
- Develop and manage the IT infrastructure and security budget.
- Monitor expenditure against budget and provide actual-versus-plan reporting.
- Lead IT procurement and manage relationships with technology vendors, service providers and consultants.
- Negotiate contracts and ensure agreed SLAs and service standards are achieved.
Stakeholder Management
- Build strong relationships with senior leaders and business stakeholders.
- Communicate technology strategies, priorities, risks and changes clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ensure IT infrastructure and security priorities remain aligned with wider business objectives.
About You
We are looking for a confident and commercially aware senior IT leader with a strong background in infrastructure, cybersecurity and technology operations.
You will ideally have:
- Proven senior IT leadership experience within the Lloyd’s of London / London Insurance Market — essential.
- Strong knowledge of the Lloyd’s/London Market technology landscape, including incumbent and emerging technology vendors and their capabilities.
- Significant experience leading IT infrastructure, networks, systems and security.
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity, information security, risk management and operational resilience.
- Experience working with regulatory, compliance and SOX requirements.
- Proven experience managing IT budgets and third-party suppliers.
- Experience delivering major technology projects, infrastructure change and transformation programmes.
- Strong understanding of IT governance, change management and service management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing capabilities.
- A highly organised, analytical and detail-oriented approach.
