We’re looking for a Product Channel Manager to join our eCommerce Developments team! Based from NEXT Head Office in Enderby, Leicestershire.

The Role

As a Product Channel Manager, you will lead the strategy and execution of our global checkout experience across a multi client landscape. In this critical, product centric leadership role, you will be responsible for maximising payment conversion success while minimising technical drop offs and transaction errors to ensure a frictionless order placement journey. You will manage a team of 3-4, ensuring our worldwide payment infrastructure remains seamless, secure, and expertly optimised for diverse regional preferences.

Responsibilities

  • Take end-to-end ownership of the payment and checkout success rates.
  • Identify, diagnose and resolve friction points that lead to cart abandonment.
  • Monitor and reduce technical payment errors and authorisation failures to ensure a high integrity transaction flow.
  • Define the roadmap for worldwide payment methods, ensuring we support local preferences and regional compliance across all clients.
  • Balance requirements and feature parity across various client implementations within the ecosystem.
  • Directly manage and coach a team of 3-4 product owners.
  • Serve as a senior mentor within the department, upskilling the team in product discovery, delivery and data informed decision making.
  • Foster a high-performance, product centric culture that prioritises user experience and measurable outcomes.
  • Understand the unit economics of payments, including interchange fees, processing costs, and the financial impact of fraud mitigation.
  • Establish KPIs and dashboards to track checkout health, using data to justify roadmap prioritisations.
  • Lead a rigorous experimentation program to validate checkout optimisations before global rollout.
  • Manage relationships with global payment service providers (PSPs) and fraud prevention partners to ensure optimal service levels.
  • Work closely with Engineering, UX Design, Finance, and Legal to deliver compliant and high-performing payment features.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a line manager for a team of product owners.
  • Significant experience in eCommerce product management - specifically within checkout, payments, or order management systems.
  • Strong understanding of global payment types (e.g., Digital Wallets, Local Cards, BNPL) and the nuances of international eCommerce.
  • Strong ability to interpret complex data sets and financial metrics to drive product strategy.
  • Ability to manage the complexity of a multi client, worldwide platform.
  • Strong technical literacy regarding APIs and payment processing flows.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
