About the role:


Working in this newly created, hands-on operational role supporting the Distribution Operations Safety Manager you will be responsible for managing and advising on all aspects of on-site health, safety and environmental regulations across our national transport department.

The primary focus of this role is on Health & Safety, Environment and Equipment nationally for Transport. You will play a pivotal role in managing the delivery of the safety plan and will be constantly reviewing all safety aspects of the operation, implementing, establishing and monitoring H&S systems and procedures to reduce accident and incident occurrences.
Based within E3, with a team of safety technicians,, you will perform walk throughs to establish and maintain procedures for the ongoing identification of hazards, the assessment of risks and the implementation of relevant and necessary control measures. This will include both routine and non-routine activities for all personnel who have access to the warehouse including staff, visitors and contractors. Along with your team, you will be responsible for engaging with internal customers to gain ‘buy-in’ across all levels in the operation around the importance of H&S.
You will lead accident and major incident investigations, performing root cause analysis and preparing feedback and reports on accident/incident statistics to the GM and H&S Managers.
As an Transport Operations Safety Manager, you will also have responsibility for strategic management of all vehicle collision investigations, data, analysis and reporting.

You will be flexible in approach with national travel required to attend meetings and carry out site visits across the Regional Service Centre’s (Transport department).

  • Operational experience gained in a service focused distribution, highly sophisticated environment
  • Operational health and safety management experience
  • Facilities management experience
  • Experience of budgeting and CPU management
  • Experience of working with external suppliers/customers
  • Strong planning/organisational skills and the ability to prioritise
  • You're experienced in supporting and advising on health and safety for warehouse operations.

Essential

  • Health & Safety qualification e.g. NEBOSH Cert
