We are looking for a Studio Floor Assistant to join the Technical team within our Buzz Photo Studio. This role is designed as an entry-level studio position for someone with a strong interest in photography and studio production with a desire to gain hands-on experience across technical, creative, and on-set workflows.
The Studio Floor Assistant plays a key role in supporting the smooth running of daily shoots by assisting with equipment, lighting, studio setup, and first-line technical support. The role provides structured exposure to photography, styling, set build, and technical processes, as well as an introduction to video production workflows, with clear development opportunities across the studio.
What you’ll take on
Your responsibilities will focus on supporting the studio floor and ensuring shoots run efficiently, safely, and to a high standard.
Safely move, set up, and de-rig lighting, grip, and camera equipment in line with studio standards.
Prepare equipment for upcoming shoots, ensuring the correct kit is allocated and ready on time.
Support basic video shoot setups, including lighting, camera rigging, and monitoring under guidance from the Technical or Video team.
Carry out daily equipment checks (damage, batteries, cables) and flag faults or missing items to the Technical Coordinator.
Correctly store, label, and organise equipment to maintain order and prevent loss or damage.
Maintain clean, tidy, and well-organised studio zones to ensure safe and efficient working environments.
Support photographers, stylists, and production teams during live shoots with equipment adjustments, swaps, and technical assistance.
Provide first-line support for basic camera tethering, monitor setup, or network connectivity issues and escalate more complex problems when required.
Assist with loading and unloading equipment for location shoots, external hires, or inter-studio transfers.
Follow all manual handling, electrical safety, and studio safety procedures, reporting any incidents or hazards immediately.
Support equipment maintenance routines, testing, and PAT testing when trained and authorised.
Take ownership of assigned studio maintenance tasks such as battery charging, cable management, and kit cleaning.
This role supports professional growth by shadowing senior staff, engaging in continuous improvement through team meetings, actively pursuing training, demonstrating strong studio etiquette, and gaining broad experience across stills and video production workflows
What you'll bring
Keen interest in studio production, photography, or technical workflows.
Practical, organised, and comfortable working in a fast-paced studio environment.
Interest in video production, filming, or editing (beneficial but not essential).
Basic understanding of video formats, cameras, or editing software is desirable but not required.
Strong attention to detail with a proactive and solution-led approach.
Confident communicator who works well within a team.
Willingness to learn, take direction, and develop new skills.
Previous studio experience is beneficial but not essential — full training will be provided.
Highly organised, with pride in maintaining structured and well-presented working environments.
Able to manage multiple priorities whilst maintaining excellent attention to detail.
Naturally proactive, taking ownership of equipment, studio organisation, and identifying opportunities to improve ways of working.
