An exciting entry-level opportunity has arisen to join our Business Intelligence Systems (BIS) team at a pivotal moment in our tech journey. As we transition from legacy architectures to a modern cloud-first data ecosystem, you will work alongside experienced senior developers to learn, build, and support the future of our data infrastructure. The BIS domain works in close collaboration with stakeholders across key business areas such as Finance, Product, Marketing, and Contact Centre to design, build, and support critical data solutions. Our thriving department features 80+ developers, analysts, and product managers focused on value-driven delivery. As a trainee, you will receive mentorship, hands-on training, and opportunities to work on live projects across our hybrid data environment.

What You’ll Take On:

  • Learn and Grow: Work closely with senior developers through pair-programming and guided mentorship to build your expertise in modern data tools.
  • Support Data Workflows: Assist in developing and maintaining solutions using tools across the Azure stack (Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake), Databricks, and PowerBI.
  • Deliver Value: Help build solutions tailored to business requirements, including initiatives around data security controls, cost efficiencies, and process optimisation.
  • Maintain & Innovate: Support core SQL database platforms while gaining exposure to cloud-first pipelines, automated data ingestion pathways, and emerging AI/machine learning data tools.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Foundational Knowledge & Key Areas:
    • Core Programming & SQL: Foundational knowledge of SQL, with an eagerness to write clean, efficient queries and scripts.
    • Data Integration Concepts: Basic understanding of ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) concepts, data pipelines, or database management.
    • Data Visualisation: Familiarity or academic/project experience with reporting tools such as PowerBI.
    • Cloud & Modern Data Exposure: A keen interest in or basic familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory) and unified analytics platforms like Databricks.
  • Professional Behaviours:
    • Eagerness to Learn: A proactive mindset with a strong desire to learn modern data architecture, dimensional modeling, and cloud technologies.
    • Collaboration: Ability to work effectively within multifunctional, fast-moving product teams.
    • Communication: Clear written and spoken English skills, with the ability to ask questions, learn from feedback, and discuss technical ideas.

Desirable (Nice to Have):

  • Familiarity with PySpark or relational database management systems (SQL Server RDBMS).
