Overview
We are looking for a Senior Risk Adviser to join our Group Risk team at Next, playing a pivotal role in developing and embedding our Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Framework across the organisation. Working closely with the Group Risk Manager and senior stakeholders, you’ll provide expert advice and guidance to help mitigate risks, identify opportunities, and strengthen our overall resilience. Responsibilities
- Support the ongoing enhancement of Next’s Enterprise Risk Management Framework, ensuring processes, systems, governance, and reporting are effective and well maintained.
- Provide advice and guidance to senior management and key stakeholders on all aspects of risk identification, assessment, and mitigation.
- Facilitate risk and governance reviews, capturing key decisions and ensuring timely follow-up of actions.
- Help develop and maintain risk policies, standards, and methodologies across the Group.
- Deliver risk awareness training and communication initiatives to promote a strong, consistent risk culture.
- Support risk and resilience projects, contributing insight and analysis to inform senior management decision-making.
- Deputise for the Group Risk Manager at governance meetings and senior stakeholder discussions when required.
- Prepare and present insightful management information for Directors, Risk Steering Groups, and Audit Committees.
- Mentor and provide peer support to risk colleagues, ensuring high-quality outputs and continuous improvement.
About You
You’re a confident communicator with a proven track record in practising Enterprise Risk Management principles and the ability to translate complex risk concepts into pragmatic actions. You’ll be adaptable and able to influence senior stakeholders effectively to ensure that they actively consider risk management in their decision making.
You’ll ideally bring:
- Proven experience in risk management, internal audit, or business assurance. (essential)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present clearly to senior audiences.
- A background in Financial Services, Banking, or Business Continuity/Resilience. (desirable but not essential)
- Experience in Audit or a Big 4 Management Consultancy (highly desirable)
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Proficiency with risk systems and data tools.
- An Institute of Risk Management (IRM) qualification (desirable but not essential).
