Please note this Senior Lab Equipment Engineer role is located in Stockport and you must have full right to work in the UK without visa sponsorship to be considered.
What you will do
As a Senior Lab Equipment Engineer, you are accountable for the reliability, performance, and continuous maintenance and improvement of laboratory equipment used in semiconductor testing. You will be used to working to exacting standards and tight deadlines because, without the equipment in the lab functioning, the company cannot produce products. Duties will include:
- Owning preventative and corrective maintenance to maximise up-time and ensuring quality and safety compliance
- Diagnosing and resolving complex equipment issues
- Defining requirements and supporting the integration of new equipment
- Monitoring performance data and delivering measurable improvements in reliability and efficiency
- Leading continuous improvement initiatives with clear, sustained outcomes
- Ensuring compliance with safety standards and maintaining documentation
- Owning RCA activities (4C/8D), driving actions through to closure and verification
What you will need
Essential
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline, or significant experience in a similar role
- Experience in a service engineering, maintenance, or test lab environment
- Proven track record in equipment troubleshooting, system integration, and project delivery in a technical environment
- Strong fault-finding skills across electrical and/or mechanical and/or software systems
Beneficial
- Experience with lab/test equipment, maintenance processes, and calibration requirements
- Experience in semiconductor, high-volume test environments or highly regulated environments
- Knowledge of characterisation, reliability testing, or surface mount standards
- LabVIEW or Python programming skills, or experience of PCB design
