At Nexperia Manchester, we are strengthening our R&D organisation with the addition of a Senior Engineer Power MOSFET Platform Development. This is an opportunity to shape next generation power semiconductor technologies within a global manufacturer producing over 100 billion devices every year. In this role, you will contribute across the entire product development lifecycle from early concept and device architecture through design, prototyping, validation, and industrialisation. Your expertise will directly influence the performance, reliability, and manufacturability of future MOSFET platforms.

We are looking for a methodical problem solver who can conceptualise, design, and develop innovative semiconductor power MOSFET technologies. What you will do:

  • As a Platform Development Engineer at Nexperia, you will join a large and highly collaborative R&D organisation with direct exposure to teams across the business.
  • You will work closely with colleagues in R&D, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain to ensure alignment on specifications, technology roadmaps, and long-term product strategy.
  • You will also interact with external customers, global suppliers, and our assembly and test operations, giving you broad visibility and influence across the full development chain.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Understanding and interpreting the Customer Requirement Specification for new products.
  • Contributing to technology platform and product design using tools such as TCAD, Cadence, and Klayout.
  • Performing data analysis across wafer test, assembly, and qualification stages.
  • Preparing clear technical summaries and communicating complex information to team members and wider stakeholders.

What you will need:

Essential Requirements:

  • Degree in Electronics Engineering, Semiconductor Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Several years of experience in power semiconductor technology development (Power MOSFETs, ideally Silicon), with strong understanding of device physics, process interactions, manufacturability, and failure mechanisms.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical information for stakeholders, senior management, and cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work on site based in Stockport on a Hybrid basis (3 days per week in office).

Desirable skills & experience:

  • Project management experience with the ability to multitask across development streams.
  • Demonstrated experience using design tools like TCAD, Cadence or Klayout.
  • Experience with statistical analysis tools such as Minitab, Statistica or SPSS.
  • Hands-on experience with root cause analysis, including 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone diagrams and containment strategies.
