As a Facilities Labourer, you will spend most of your time managing vital manufacturing waste disposal (including hazardous and confidential waste), operating equipment such as granulators and shedders, ensuring segregation and recycling standards are met. Alongside this, you’ll support a wide range of site activities – from setting up meeting rooms and assisting with office moves, to perimeter fence security tours, litter management, and even maintaining the on-site pond and bird feeding areas. This varied role requires flexibility, physical fitness, and a willingness to take on routine tasks that are essential to keeping our site safe, clean, and operational.
Over a month, you will work 90% weekdays and 10% weekends with usual hours of 8:00 am – 4:30 pm Monday to Thursday, or just 5.5 hours Friday – Sunday. Additional overtime will also be available at an enhanced rate for weekends.
Key responsibilities include:- Managing site waste compound, including hazardous and confidential waste disposal
- Operating granulators and shredders, and a forklift to dispose of manufacturing waste
- Weekly tasks such as clearing the manufacturing plant basements
- Supporting office set-ups, relocations, and meeting room arrangements
- Perimeter fence security tours and litter picking
- Assisting with snow and ice clearing during the winter months
- Maintaining bund areas, gullies, drains, and other miscellaneous duties
Essential requirements:
- On-site availability: Ability to reliably work 37.5 hours per week over a four-week rota. The monthly working schedule includes 18 weekday shifts and 2 weekend shifts (1 Saturday and 1 Sunday of 5.5 hours in duration)
- Physical capability: Comfortable with a highly active role, averaging 15,000 steps per day indoors and outdoors
- Strong interpersonal skills: Clear communication and effective teamwork are key to success in this role
- Adaptability: Flexible and resilient in a dynamic environment with changing priorities
- Practical competence: Confident in safe manual handling techniques and willing to undertake training where required
Desirable skills:
- Forklift truck licence – or willingness to undertake training
- Chemical awareness – existing knowledge beneficial, with full training provided
- Relevant background – prior experience in facilities labouring, building maintenance, or caretaking roles
