As Senior Principal Reliability Engineer GaN/SiC (m/f/d), you will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and durability of our GaN and SiC products, by supporting customers with reliability and lifetime predictions, developing reliability testing, analyzing failure mechanisms, optimizing designs and processes, and providing valuable insights to enhance the overall performance and reliability of our technologies.

This is your new job:

  • Develop and manage the reliability test plan for GaN/SiC products and calculate extrapolated lifetime for given mission profiles.
  • Enable early identification and characterization of failure mechanisms and link to performance and lifetime limitations through simulation and predictive analytics.
  • Determine the effect of the different stress factors on the lifetime and plot the failure distribution for each stressor as a result of test-to-fail.
  • Derive lifetime models and drifts prediction for main parameters. Identify fail-in-time estimation (FIT, ppm).
  • Setup a lifetime estimation model fitting customers' application profile, derive pass/fail criteria.
  • Manage the concept of reliability tests with external partners.
  • Drive reliability tests and analyze reliability test results data to extract acceleration parameters.
  • Collaborate closely with design, quality, product engineering, packaging, and process technology teams to drive Design for Reliability (DfR) into product development.
  • Identify and address reliability gaps and drive reliability improvement activities.
  • Collaborate with the R&D and Quality teams to develop/improve tests and analysis methods of GaN and SiC products.
  • Monitor failure analysis investigation to understand the main wear-out failure mechanisms.
  • Establish and lead external partnerships with universities, research consortia, and industry working groups on Power Semiconductor reliability standards and methods for wide band gap materials.

This is you:

  • Master's Degree or equivalent in Experimental Physics, Electronics Engineering, or a similar discipline, PhD preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of GaN and SiC semiconductor physics, or at least of one of the two technologies and the ability to learn the other.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience of power semiconductor devices, ideally wide band gap and GaN HEMTs.
  • Understanding of mechanical, electrical and thermal failure modes in semiconductor products, and failure analysis techniques.
  • Knowledge of international quality standards such as JEDEC, AEC-Q101, AQG 324, reliability test to fail methods, and reliability test equipment.
  • Experience working within GaN and/or SiC reliability in an industrial environment is highly advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of wafer fab processes. Knowledge of assembly process preferred.
  • Strong data analysis skills (JMP, MATLAB, etc.) with clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • High quality mindset, towards product and customers.
  • Fluent spoken and written English skills.
  • Strong know-how in statistical data analysis.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Good team player and willingness to travel.
  • Assertiveness and demonstrated influencing skills.
  • Ability to create a trusted network within the organization.
  • Experience in resolving conflicts and disagreements among others.
  • Open mindset, which welcomes changes and views problems as opportunities.
