Job Title: Senior Planning Engineer Job Purpose To lead all planning activities within a contract, ensuring effective project delivery and performance monitoring. This role supports the Project/Contract Manager and stakeholders by providing accurate schedules, forecasts, risk assessments, and performance analysis using tools such as histograms, S-curves, and dashboards. The Senior Planning Engineer ensures timely and high-quality planning deliverables while fostering strong relationships with client-side project controls personnel. Key Responsibilities Attend and contribute to all contract planning meetings. Develop Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), project baselines, and detailed schedules; monitor progress and implement updates regularly. Identify and communicate planning risks, and support the management of change, growth, and variations. Produce accurate, timely planning reports with supporting narratives, charts (e.g., histograms, S-curves), and visual planner boards in line with internal and client standards. Conduct performance analysis, including SPI/CPI, resource trends, critical path tracking, float management, and other schedule metrics. Provide planning cover and support for other planners as required. Deliver coaching and training to planning and wider project team members. Ensure compliance with planning procedures, templates, and support periodic audits to maintain consistency and standards. Follow and maintain contract-specific work instructions and governance requirements. Be proficient in key planning and reporting tools, including Primavera, IGRIS, Insights, and Power BI. Collaborate daily with the wider project controls and delivery teams to ensure reliable, up-to-date reporting and trustworthy data. Skills & Qualifications Essential: Proven experience in a planning role on complex projects. Knowledge of the full project lifecycle from initiation to closeout. Strong understanding of project controls principles and best practices. Hands-on experience with Primavera (P6). Advanced Excel skills and experience with data-driven reporting. Desirable: HNC, HND, or higher qualification in a relevant engineering or project management discipline. Experience in risk and trend analysis tools and techniques. Key Competencies Strong verbal and written communication skills. Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities. High attention to detail and organizational discipline. Ability to manage workload under pressure and meet strict deadlines. Professionalism in client and internal stakeholder engagement. Work Environment & Conditions Work Location: Office-based, as determined by the assigned contract or project. Working Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week.
