nexos are looking for a Senior Instrument Engineer to join our Aberdeen team on a permanent basis. You'll take accountability for executing instrument & control engineering activities while ensuring technical quality, budget, and schedule compliance.
In this role, you will provide instrument & control engineering input into tenders and proposals, assist in identifying and implementing improvements to working practices, and support workload allocation and supervision of discipline personnel. You will also oversee and manage vendor and contractor deliverables, ensuring alignment with project objectives.
A key part of the role is maintaining project plans, progress updates, and cost control for assigned scopes while ensuring that scope and schedule changes follow the project change control process. Compliance with industry standards, regulations, and procedures is essential, alongside supporting estimate and schedule preparation and approval via digital platforms such as Slingshot.
Collaboration is key, as you will maintain effective communication with project management and multi-discipline teams, review and check instrument & control work output, and ensure accurate document filing and approvals. You will also contribute to competency assessments, provide technical assistance to the team, and ensure the implementation of engineering processes and procedures.
Regular engagement with Lead and Principal Engineers is expected to highlight issues, concerns, and areas for improvement. If you have a keen eye for detail, a proactive approach to engineering, and the ability to drive technical excellence, we’d love to hear from you.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Essential:
- Previous experience in the Oil & Gas industry.
- UK bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in appropriate engineering subject (Instrumentation).
- Sound technical background and expertise.
- Experienced in the use of applicable codes, practices, standards and statutory documentation.
- Competent in commercial, contractual, and administrative aspects of engineering.
- Competent in aspects of discipline design (including multi-discipline) and use of analytical methods including theoretic background.
- Proven experience with Fire & Gas (F&G) systems.
- Familiarity with DCS, PLC, and SCADA systems.
- Working knowledge of functional safety standards and Safety Integrity Levels (SIL).
- Mandatory offshore certification (BOSIET, MIST, Medical, etc.).
