We seek to appoint a Senior Materials Co-ordinator on a 3 month PAYE fixed term contract basis. The role will be based on site Shetland and will be on a 2:2 rotation. The Senior Materials Co-ordinator is responsible for the strategic oversight, coordination, and optimisation of all materials, equipment, and supply chain activities to support operations, maintenance, and project delivery. The role ensures materials are procured, received, stored, controlled, and issued safely, efficiently, and in alignment with project schedules, compliance requirements, and commercial objectives. The position provides leadership to materials personnel and acts as the key interface between procurement, suppliers, project teams, and site operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and coordinate all materials management activities.
- Oversee ordering of equipment and materials in line with project schedules and operational requirements.
- Manage goods-in and goods-out processes, ensuring accurate documentation, manifests, and certification compliance.
- Ensure full traceability and integrity of materials control systems.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve materials management procedures and systems.
- Supervise and support Materials Controllers and store personnel where applicable.
- Liaise closely with procurement, engineering, construction, and logistics teams to forecast demand and mitigate supply risks.
- Monitor stock levels, identify surplus/obsolete materials, and optimise inventory holding.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
- Identify and onboard new suppliers where beneficial to project or operational performance.
- Ensure compliance with company procedures, industry regulations, and health & safety standards.
- Produce regular reports on materials status, inventory, and supply chain performance.
- Support audits and ensure documentation meets contractual and regulatory requirements.
Skills & Qualifications:
Essential:
- Significant experience in materials coordination, logistics, or supply chain within construction, energy, or industrial environments.
- Proven experience supervising or mentoring team members.
- Strong understanding of materials control systems and inventory management processes.
- Manual Handling certification.
- Clean UK Driving License.
- High level of computer literacy, including Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel).
Desirable:
- Experience working in regulated or COMAH environments.
- Knowledge of ERP or materials management systems.
- Supply chain or logistics qualification.
