Job Purpose
:
To lead the IT Team in delivering strategic, secure, and efficient technology services across the business; including Strategy, Operations and Project. Lead the development and implementation of the IT and Information Management (IM) strategy, ensuring all policies and procedures are documented within the Business Management System (BMS), and chairing the IM Working Group to drive improvements. Oversee Cyber Security measures, compliance and accreditation. Active participation in daily IT operations as part of a hands-on team, managing infrastructure, service desk, hardware/software procurement, budgets, and software licensing. To lead IT projects from planning to delivery, engaging stakeholders, and managing third-party vendors.
Key Responsibilities
:
- Strategy, Policy & Governance
- Lead the development and implementation of IT & IM strategy.
- Ensure all IT and IM policies, procedures, and operational work instructions are documented and maintained within the Business Management System (BMS).
- Chair the Information Management Working Group to improve standards, practices, and drive change across the business.
- Cyber Security
- Oversee cybersecurity strategy, including preventative measures, monitoring, and compliance.
- Ensure ongoing accreditation and adherence to Cyber Essentials.
- BAU Operations
- Actively participate in day-to-day IT operations as part of a hands-on 3-person team.
- Supervise daily operations of network, server infrastructure, and Service Desk.
- Maintain technical quality and ensure systems operate effectively and efficiently.
- Assess and procure new and replacement hardware/software.
- Maintain effective communication with business stakeholders.
- Manage IT budgets, forecasts, and enforce cost-effectiveness.
- Ownership of Software Licensing/Subscriptions at enterprise level.
- Own and manage the data subject rights process, including systems, workflows, and vendor relationships, ensuring compliance with applicable data protection regulations.
- IT Projects
- Project manage and deliver IT initiatives from planning through to implementation.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define requirements, scope, and success criteria.
- Manage third-party vendors from scope of work definition to close-out.
- Information Management
- Drive improvements in data governance, document control, and digital collaboration tools.
- Promote best practices in data handling, storage, and retrieval across departments.
Skills & Qualifications
:
- Essential:
- BSc in Computer Science or Information Systems or similar.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, including VM deployment, infrastructure management, Entra, resource groups, and cloud networking principles.
- M365 Administration; Teams, Exchange, SharePoint, Purview.
- Experience in IT Operations; Infrastructure and Service Desk.
- Ability to work both in a management capacity and in a hands-on system capacity.
- Previous experience of technology project management in a business-facing role.
- Experience managing third party vendors and negotiating SOWs.
- Desirable:
- Experience in agile methodology & tools (e.g. DevOps)

Work Environment/Conditions
:
- Office: Corporate headquarters, Albyn Place. Will be required to work from other locations in Aberdeen to support business operations.
