The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for overseeing and optimising the end-to-end supply chain operations of the organisation. This role ensures that materials, products, and information flow efficiently from suppliers to customers, while maintaining cost-effectiveness, quality, and compliance. The ideal candidate combines strategic thinking with hands-on operational expertise.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supply Chain Leadership, Governance & Collaboration
- Provide leadership, coaching, and development to Supply Chain team ensuring consistent standards and best practices are applied.
- Foster strong cross-functional relationships with operations, technical and Commercial teams.
- Ensure compliance with Delegation of Authority (DOA), company policies, and governance frameworks across all projects.
- Act as escalation point for significant supply chain risks, opportunities, claims and disputes.
- Promote knowledge sharing, consistency, and continuous improvement within the Supply Chain function.
- Strategy & Leadership
- Develop and own the Group Supply Chain Strategy, aligned to corporate, commercial, and operational objectives across the group.
- Build a high-performing, values-led Supply Chain function with clear capability, succession, and talent development plans which can deliver current needs and growth aligned with strategy.
- Procurement & Supplier Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships across the supply chain.
- Lead strategic sourcing and procurement across the group.
- Establish preferred supplier frameworks, long-term agreements, and strategic partnerships.
- Ensure robust supplier selection, onboarding, and performance management processes are in place.
- Lead commercial and contractual negotiations on high-value and high-risk contracts.
- Operational Supply Chain
- Lead efficient logistics, warehousing, inventory planning, and material availability across the group.
- Drive standardisation of processes and systems across locations while respecting local operational needs.
- Ensure framework agreements consider (where appropriate) key contractual risks from client contracts across the group.
- Work closely with production, sales, finance, and quality teams to align supply chain activities with business needs.
- Provide regular reporting on supply chain performance, KPIs, and risks.
- Risk, Resilience & Compliance
- Identify and mitigate supply chain risks including geopolitical, financial, capacity, and single-source dependencies.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures and external regulations.
- Lead contingency planning and business continuity related to supply chain disruption.
- Cost, Value & Performance
- Deliver measurable cost savings and value creation without compromising safety or quality.
- Define and track KPIs covering cost, service, resilience and supplier performance.
- Own supply chain budgets and contribute to long-term financial planning for the function.
- ESG & Sustainability
- Embed responsible sourcing, carbon reduction, and ethical supply chain practices.
- Work with suppliers to support net-zero targets and sustainability reporting.
- Ensure compliance with modern slavery, ethical trading, and environmental standards.
- Systems & Transformation
- Lead continuous improvement and digitalisation of supply chain systems (ERP, procurement tools, data analytics).
- Identify and drive supply chain transformation and change initiatives as required to meet business and group needs.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Senior supply chain leadership experience in energy, utilities, infrastructure, or other relevant industries.
- Proven experience managing multi-site operations.
- Strong background in strategic procurement, contract management, and supplier negotiations.
- Demonstrable experience managing large spend portfolios and delivering value.
- Deep understanding of supply chain risk, resilience, and compliance.
- Executive-level influencing and stakeholder management skills.
- Knowledge of supply chain best practices, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
- Commercially astute and strategically minded with a hands-on approach to operational challenges.
