This role is responsible for:
- Working with the wider Nexor team to refine Nexor's Interoperability Strategy.
- Capturing high-level customer requirements, what, why and when, along with those of the project and Nexor strategy and agreeing them with customer and internal stakeholders.
- Converting high-level requirements into detailed requirements, timings and goals that can be acted upon by engineering.
- Working closely with the Technical Architect and Delivery Manager to prioritise the Product Backlog and communicate updates to relevant stakeholders.
- Planning and delivering timely releases and product updates to meet customer and Nexor requirements.
- Owning and coordinating all aspects of the release process, including product documentation, implementation and deployment, and providing updates to any marketing documentation for the Portfolio Manager.
- Monitoring and acting upon any technical updates from third parties.
- Maintaining the relevant bill of materials for each part of the portfolio.
- Working with customers to develop customer-specific backlogs where required.
- Developing value propositions for the Interoperability Portfolio, covering software, services and managed services.
- Working closely with Marketing to create marketing activities, with relevant marketing and communications artefacts, to promote the work Nexor is doing.
- Completing competitor analysis for other companies, technologies and approaches.
Skills and Experience
- Experience as a Product Manager and Product Owner within the Defence, Government or National Security sectors.
- Ideally, knowledge and experience in interoperability, integration and secure information exchange.
- Ideally, a good blend of technical and commercial knowledge and communication skills, with the ability to engage with stakeholders ranging from technical architects through to senior business stakeholders.
- Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop productive relationships both internally and externally.
- Good presentation and communication skills for business, technology, senior leader and engineering audiences, both internally and externally with customers.
- Holds, or is able to obtain, SC clearance.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a Hybrid Product Manager/Owner for Nexor's Interoperability programmes, as well as other customer-facing delivery projects.
- Manage the product goals and backlogs for all relevant projects.
- Develop and explicitly communicate Product Goals.
- Create, clearly communicate and manage Product Backlog items.
- Order and prioritise Product Backlog items.
- Agree Sprint Goals with the teams.
- Ensure that Product Backlog progress is transparent, visible and understood, including timescales, financial budgets and actual spend.
- Support the teams with product-related queries.
- Attend Sprint and Project Reviews and, in conjunction with the Technical Architect and Delivery Manager, report on progress made.
- Manage the product release process, including setting release requirements; planning all elements of a release into the backlog, such as documentation; accepting that a release has been completed; and communicating updates to the rest of the business.
- As Product Manager for Nexor's Interoperability deliverables, products and services, manage the lifecycle for each product or service in line with roadmap plans, dovetailing into Nexor's wider portfolio, with services driving product updates and vice versa.
- Champion the Nexor Interoperability portfolio.
- Contribute to clear, engaging product collateral in order to update the market on the latest developments, use cases, etc.
- From time to time, author collateral pieces to help advocate one or more products.
- Maintain the product area for each product on the Portfolio Hub on SharePoint.
- Present the products and services, including benefits and use cases, to customers, and gather and apply their feedback.
- Develop the value propositions for the Interoperability Portfolio.
- Help gather product feedback from customers, prospects and Nexor's customer-facing teams to support prioritisation of the backlog, maximise return on Nexor investment, and maintain alignment with the Interoperability Roadmap and wider Nexor Roadmap where applicable.
- Explore, share and apply market learning, including from customers, authorities, competitors, partners and suppliers, as part of the marketing community at Nexor.
- Complete competitor analysis for competing products, services, technologies and approaches.
- Facilitate the estimating process with engineering, as this can impact delivery of the backlog.
