Our client, a unique and growing organisation providing exceptional memorial park environments, is seeking an experienced Grounds Manager to lead their dedicated Grounds Team. This role offers the opportunity to work within stunning natural surroundings, overseeing woodland, landscape and facilities management while shaping the long-term success of the park. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing maintenance plans, leading a skilled team, and ensuring the highest standards of presentation and customer experience throughout the park.
Key Responsibilities
- People Leadership
- Recruit, induct and develop Grounds Team colleagues
- Manage training requirements, competency tickets and 1-2-1 performance reviews
- Maintain motivation, retention and effective resource planning
- Support HR processes when required (ER, onboarding, leavers)
- Manage grounds budgets
- Create and deliver 1-year and 3-year maintenance plans
- Lead approved development projects
- Write and maintain Standard Operating Procedures
- Oversee procurement for grounds operations
- Manage site maintenance, cleaning, waste disposal and security
- Oversee subcontractors and risk assessments
- Ensure compliance with H&S procedures, audits and emergency planning
- Support site events and customer parking policy delivery
- Maintain exceptional park presentation standards
- Deliver funeral-related duties professionally and compassionately
- Improve environmental credentials and biodiversity
- Assist with practical tasks including:
- Tree work, mowing, brush cutting, strimming, planting, coppicing, chipping, hedging, pruning
- Waste management, plaque/post placement, wildlife upkeep
- Produce accurate location mapping and stock creation to support commercial goals
Skills & Experience
- Landscape maintenance / horticulture / woodland experience
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Computer literate
- Full, clean driving licence
- Desirable but not essential: Grave digging experience
- Digger/dumper experience
