Role: New Product Development Assistant Location: Manchester – occasional UK travel Salary: up to £35,000 starting Are you passionate about technology, design, and cutting-edge security solutions? Our partner is on a mission to revolutionise off-grid, low-power security systems— they need a talented New Product Development Assistant to help make it happen! This role will also give you an opportunity to shape your career, you will be working alongside industry experienced professionals, passionate about innovating. You can either explore the technical or managerial routes of the trade with this role, providing a great opportunity. Primarily based out of their new coming innovation centre, there will be occasional travel to customers and company locations to continuously improve. What to expect: * Design & Prototype: Assist in the creation of electronic, mechanical, and physical products, using tools like Shapr3D, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Fusion 360. * 3D Printing & Testing: Build prototypes, conduct hands-on testing, and refine product designs for real-world use. * AI & Programming: Support AI integration and work on low-code/no-code and embedded programming projects. * Component Sourcing & Supplier Engagement: Research and procure electronic and mechanical components, liaising with suppliers. * Product Testing & Field Trials: Help execute test plans and participate in field trials to refine and validate products. * Documentation & Training: Assist in creating technical reports, assembly instructions, and training materials for engineers and customers. Who are we looking for: * A passion for technology, engineering, and problem-solving. * Basic experience with 3D modelling software and an understanding of electrical systems, solar energy, and battery technologies. * Interest in AI, web technologies, and IT networks (TCP/IP, VPNs, databases, and hosting experience is a plus!). * Some knowledge of programming languages like Python, Swift, Flutter, or JavaScript frameworks is beneficial. * A hands-on approach, with a keen eye for detail and a proactive mindset. * Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, team-player attitude. * Education: University-level education in a relevant subject (e.g., Engineering, Product Design, Computer Science, or similar) or strong demonstrable technical knowledge and hands-on ability with practical experience in related fields (any hands-on experience with product design, 3D printing, electronics, or programming is advantageous) * Any CAD software is an advantage, any modern diagramming and logical flow design packages Offering you an opportunity to develop your career down two exciting paths in product development, this role will offer an exciting day to day in an ever-changing landscape.
