Overview: NexGen Consultancy Ltd is recruiting on behalf of a well established precision engineering manufacturer for a Sliding Head Supervisor Production Engineer. This is a hands on CNC role with leadership responsibility, ideal for someone experienced with sliding head or Swiss type machines who wants to lead a department while remaining technically involved. This position offers a stable day shift, long term opportunity and the chance to take ownership of a key machining area within a growing business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise the sliding head CNC machining department
- Hands on setting, operating and programming of sliding head CNC machines
- Support and mentor CNC setters and operators
- Plan daily and weekly production to meet output and delivery targets
- Ensure components meet tight tolerances and quality standards
- First off inspection and ongoing process checks
- Reduce scrap and improve cycle times through continuous improvement
- Work closely with production, quality and engineering teams
- Ensure health and safety procedures are followed
Skills and Experience Required:
- Proven experience with sliding head CNC machines
- Strong hands on background in CNC setting and programming
- Previous experience as a supervisor team leader or senior CNC engineer
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Experience working to tight tolerances in a precision environment
- Good organisational and leadership skills
- Strong attention to detail and problem solving ability
Desirable Experience:
- Swiss type sliding head CNC machines
- Production engineering or process improvement experience
- Multi axis CNC machining knowledge
