Overview: NexGen Consultancy Ltd is recruiting on behalf of a well established precision engineering manufacturer for a CNC Setter Operator to join their sliding head machining department. This is a hands on role suited to an experienced CNC setter operator with a background in sliding head or Swiss type CNC machines, producing high precision components. The role offers stable day shift hours and the opportunity to work within a well organised and supportive CNC environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set and operate sliding head CNC machines
- Make tooling and offset adjustments to maintain component quality
- Produce components to engineering drawings and tight tolerances
- Carry out first off inspections and in process quality checks
- Monitor machine performance and address minor issues
- Work to production schedules and output targets
- Maintain a clean and safe working area
- Support continuous improvement and efficiency initiatives
- Work closely with supervisors and production team
Skills and Experience Required:
- Proven experience as a CNC Setter Operator
- Experience with sliding head CNC machines
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
- Experience working to tight tolerances in a precision engineering environment
- Good understanding of tooling offsets and cutting parameters
- Strong attention to detail and quality
