Overview: NexGen Consultancy Ltd is recruiting on behalf of a well established precision engineering manufacturer for a CNC Setter Operator to join their sliding head machining department. This is a hands on role suited to an experienced CNC setter operator with a background in sliding head or Swiss type CNC machines, producing high precision components. The role offers stable day shift hours and the opportunity to work within a well organised and supportive CNC environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set and operate sliding head CNC machines
  • Make tooling and offset adjustments to maintain component quality
  • Produce components to engineering drawings and tight tolerances
  • Carry out first off inspections and in process quality checks
  • Monitor machine performance and address minor issues
  • Work to production schedules and output targets
  • Maintain a clean and safe working area
  • Support continuous improvement and efficiency initiatives
  • Work closely with supervisors and production team

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Proven experience as a CNC Setter Operator
  • Experience with sliding head CNC machines
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
  • Experience working to tight tolerances in a precision engineering environment
  • Good understanding of tooling offsets and cutting parameters
  • Strong attention to detail and quality
  • Reliable and team focused approach

Desirable Experience:

  • Swiss type sliding head CNC machines
  • Multi axis CNC machining experience
  • Experience working in a high volume precision environment
