Sole UK nationality is essential.NexGen Associates are working with a Defence Consultancy supporting a key Defence programme and are seeking an experienced Infrastructure Operations Engineer to join the PaaS Core team based at MoD Corsham.This hands-on role will cover a blend of data centre operations, patching, and enterprise networking, providing additional capability across physical and virtual environments.You will be instrumental in strengthening day-to-day operations by carrying out patching, hardware swaps, racking and cabling, as well as supporting and maintaining enterprise networking platforms. This position is suited to an adaptable engineer with a solid background in data centre operations who is comfortable working across multiple domains.Key Responsibilities Perform data centre operations tasks: hardware break/fix, racking, cabling, patching, and physical troubleshooting.Deliver BAU network and server patching across multiple environments.Configure and maintain enterprise networking equipment (Juniper SRX, Cisco Firepower, Dell S-Series switches).Follow, update, and improve work instructions for BAU tasks (monitoring, patching, configuration).Provide wider operational support across servers, virtualization, and backup platforms.Hands-on experience in data centre operations (hardware swaps, cabling, patching, troubleshooting).Strong networking knowledge, ideally across:Juniper SRX firewalls (configuration & operations).Dell S-Series or equivalent enterprise switches (layer 2/3 config, VLANs, port management).Operational discipline: comfortable following documented work instructions and contributing to process improvements.Minimum 2β3 years in a data centre/network engineering role.Exposure to enterprise environments with multiple vendors.VMware vSphere / vSAN basics (monitoring, troubleshooting).Veeam Backup & Replication (day-to-day operations).Windows Server 2019 administration.Linux fundamentals (CLI, patching, troubleshooting).Powershell scripting for automation tasks.Familiarity with tools such as SolarWinds, Cisco ISE, Kemp LoadBalancers, Trellix, Dell Thin Client.Certifications (beneficial but not essential): CCNA / JNCIAQualifications Minimum 2β3 years in a data centre/network engineering role.Exposure to enterprise environments with multiple vendors.VMware or Veeam entry-level certifications (beneficial).Job function and industry Job function: IT and Networking OperationsIndustries: IT Services and IT Consulting; Defense and Space ManufacturingNote: This posting includes the core responsibilities and qualifications required for the role and preserves the essential EEO and employment context without extraneous postings or site-specific notices.
