As we continue to grow, we are expanding our Compliance function and are looking for a knowledgeable and proactive Legal Compliance Manager with a specialism in conveyancing and property to support the firm’s regulatory and risk framework. About the Role
As a Legal Compliance Manager at Nexa Law, you will be responsible for supporting and enhancing the firm’s compliance framework, with a particular focus on property law matters. You will work closely with senior stakeholders to ensure adherence to all relevant legal, regulatory, and professional obligations, while promoting a strong culture of compliance across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensuring the firm’s ongoing compliance with SRA Standards and Regulations, including the Code of Conduct and Accounts Rules.
- Monitoring and interpreting changes in legislation, regulations, and guidance affecting property law and legal practice.
- Overseeing compliance with anti-money laundering (AML), counter-terrorist financing (CTF), and GDPR requirements.
- Maintaining and updating compliance policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Identifying, assessing, and managing compliance risks, particularly those arising from property transactions.
- Conducting risk assessments, file reviews and audits to ensure adherence to internal and external standards.
- Advising on and implementing risk mitigation strategies.
- Supporting client onboarding processes, including KYC and source of funds checks.
- Preparing regulatory reports and liaising with external regulators, auditors and professional bodies.
- Promoting a culture of compliance and ethical practice across the firm.
Skills & Experience
- Qualified Solicitor/CILEX/CLC or demonstrable property law experience.
- Proven experience in a compliance role within a conveyancing law firm or similar regulated environment.
- Strong knowledge of SRA regulations, AML/CTF legislation and GDPR.
- Excellent analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to explain complex regulatory requirements.
- High level of integrity and professionalism.
- Strong IT literacy and experience with legal case management systems.
