Position: Support Worker – 17.5 hours per week (Wed 9am – 5pm, Thurs 11:30am – 5pm, Fri 12pm – 5pm). Fixed term 12 months. Based in Cardiff with travel between Roath and Ely. Salary £28,175 – £29,657.

About the Role: Our two hostels for families provide support and accommodation to prepare families for securing and maintaining tenancy. The hostels are fast‑paced environments where residents have a range of needs such as domestic abuse, substance misuse, mental ill health and child protection issues. As a support worker you will provide empowering, trauma‑informed and holistic support to tenants living in supported housing, delivering services in a positive, psychologically informed and motivating way that reflects best practice.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver one‑to‑one and group support to residents.
  • Assist with assessment and implementation of risk management plans.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports.
  • Liaise with agencies and partners to support residents’ progress.
  • Provide advocacy and promote residents’ rights.
  • Contribute to the safe and positive environment of hostels.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Good standard of education; qualified in Advice and Guidance (Level 4) or willingness to complete the course.
  • Previous experience supporting adults, young people and children, and knowledge of psychologically informed environments.
  • Experience with trauma‑based approaches and restorative relationships.
  • Valid driving licence and access to a car for travel between hostels.
  • Positive attitude, enthusiasm and motivation to build relationships.
