Overview
The Housing Officer will be responsible for all aspects of housing management. You will be providing front line office and community-based services ensuring the effective management of rent collection and arrears recovery, allocations and signing up new tenants, mutual exchanges, home visits, estate inspections and managing anti-social behaviour, as well as tenant consultation and general tenancy and estate management.
The Housing Officer will be providing a proactive service to our tenants, responding to queries around rent payments and arrears, succession, assignments, joint/sole tenancies, abandonments, estate management and estate-based issues and tenancy enforcement. The Housing Officer will also work closely with colleagues within Newydd and partners from Local Authorities, Police, and other external agencies.
About you
Relevant and proven experience within the social housing sector is essential for this role, along with an HNC in Housing Studies or equivalent qualification. Knowledge of estate and tenancy management, housing law, housing benefits and Universal Credit and wider welfare reform, bedroom tax, DHP and proposals under renting homes, are also essential for this role, as are strong levels of IT literacy.
You will be managing a busy and demanding workload so you will need to be able to prioritise tasks and enjoy a varied and rewarding people-focused role. The right attitude is just as important to us as the skills and experience you bring. We are looking for a Housing Officer who has a strong customer service ethos, will go the extra mile and who is also a team player who can provide support and cover where required across the Housing Team.
A driving license and use of a vehicle is essential for this post. The post is also subject to a Disclosure Barring Service (CRB) Check and a renewal check every three years.
