Our client, a growing international Business Software group, focused on niche industries, is seeking an experienced Information Security Manager / Data Security Officer to establish and lead its first dedicated Information Security function globally. This is a rare opportunity to build an Information Security function from the ground up within a long‑term, stable business software vendor supporting niche manufacturers and industrial organisations across multiple countries.
Reporting directly to the VP of Technology, you will take ownership of the security strategy, technical controls, policies and operational standards protecting a portfolio of cloud‑hosted ERP and SaaS platforms. This is not a role focused solely on governance or maintaining an established programme. You will have the autonomy to assess the current environment, prioritise improvements and create a practical, multi‑year security roadmap.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Developing the group’s Information Security strategy, policies and standards
- Owning cloud security across Azure, with exposure to AWS and Oracle Cloud
- Leading Identity and Access Management, vulnerability management and security monitoring
- Strengthening backup, disaster recovery and business continuity capabilities
- Managing penetration testing and remediation programmes
- Supporting customer security questionnaires and documentation
- Building the roadmap towards ISO 27001 and Cyber Essentials Plus
- Collaborating with Development, DevOps and Cloud Operations teams
- Supporting security due diligence and integration for future acquisitions
What we’re looking for:
- Strong, hands‑on Azure security experience
- Experience securing cloud‑hosted SaaS applications
- Microsoft Entra ID and Identity and Access Management expertise
- Backup, Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity experience
- Security incident response and vulnerability management knowledge
- Experience developing security policies and governance frameworks
- The ability to work independently, take ownership and influence technical stakeholders
- Experience with Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Sentinel, DevSecOps, Infrastructure as Code security, AWS or Oracle Cloud would be advantageous
- Certifications such as CISSP, CISM or AZ-500 would be highly desirable
This position would suit a pragmatic and commercially aware security professional who enjoys solving problems, improving systems and building long‑term capability rather than simply maintaining existing processes.
