Newton Colmore is working with a growing biotech in Cambridge, and we are searching for an experienced scientist to take R&D programmatic lead on the company's novel instrumentation technology.

This is an excellent opportunity for a scientist who has hands-on experience with developing life science technology and for someone who enjoys leading projects and setting strategic direction for scientific products that aim to solve multiple problems.

You will be using your experience to lead development projects that are at the intersection of science and engineering. You will be working closely with the department head and managing a team of biologists who are all aiming to deliver a scientific step-change with novel ideas and new innovations.

You and your team will be responsible for translating molecular biology processes from research through to product/platform development, and you will take a hands-on approach to guide and supervise experimental work.

To be considered for this role you will need the following:

  • Hands-on experience of utilising molecular biology methods and processes for engineering and analysis.
  • Experience with next-generation sequencing and/or cloning technologies.
  • Strong academics and fundamentals, ideally within molecular biology and to PhD-level.
