Senior CAD Engineer – Medical Technology
Newton Colmore is working with a medical devices company in Cambridgeshire and we are searching for an experienced CAD engineer to join their design team.
You will be joining a team of experts to drive innovation through iterative design, on next generation medical devices.
The company are working on life improving technology that combines engineering, science, and robotics. As a Senior CAD Engineer, you’ll play a critical role in the design and development of precision-engineered components and intricate systems. You will be taking your designs through the entire design process, from initial design, to testing, and readying the component for manufacture.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of complex mechanical components using CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, or similar).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including R&D, manufacturing, and quality assurance.
- Create and manage detailed 3D models, assemblies, and technical drawings.
- Support prototype development and testing, ensuring designs meet regulatory and performance standards.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience in CAD design within a regulated industry, ideally medical devices or biotechnology, but open to other industries too.
- Strong understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and design for manufacturability.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with ISO 13485 or other relevant quality standards is a plus.
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline and strong fundamentals.
