Newton British Academy – Barwa City is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, dedicated and experienced Secondary History Teacher to join our successful and growing team. This is an exciting opportunity for an outstanding practitioner who is passionate about History and committed to inspiring students to develop a deep understanding of the past, strong analytical skills and an appreciation of different cultures, societies and historical perspectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality History lessons across the secondary phase.
- Plan and teach engaging lessons that promote excellent progress and outcomes for all students.
- Assess, monitor and report on student achievement and attainment.
- Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that fosters curiosity, critical thinking and a love of learning.
- Contribute to curriculum development and departmental improvement initiatives.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents and the wider school community to support student success.
- Participate fully in the wider life of the school, including extracurricular activities and events.
- Uphold high standards of behaviour, safeguarding and student wellbeing.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in History or a closely related field.
- Recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, BEd, QTS or equivalent).
- Experience teaching History within a secondary school setting.
- Strong subject knowledge and a passion for History education.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to inspire, motivate and challenge students of varying abilities.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Desirable
- Experience teaching the British Curriculum.
- Previous experience in an international school setting.
- Experience teaching History at Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5.
