Overview
Newtech Intelligent Automation Ltd, based in Sharnbrook, is seeking an apprentice to join the electrical team.
The role provides hands-on experience in panel building, wiring, installations, and design support, while developing practical engineering skills.
- What You’ll Do
- Work on electrical and mechanical assemblies and interpret technical drawings and electrical schematics.
- Assist with the layout and wiring of control panels for a variety of system builds.
- Identify and label wiring and hardware components; dress and terminate cables to meet food hygiene standards.
- Carry out dead and live electrical testing; support fault finding and troubleshooting to resolve electrical issues.
- Complete input/output checks before systems are handed over to the software team.
- Contribute to the testing and commissioning of equipment.
- Assist engineers with installation, maintenance, and commissioning at customer sites across the UK and internationally.
- Develop skills through hands-on work and study for the Level 3 Engineering & Manufacturing Support Technician Apprenticeship with The Bedford College Group.
- Training and Qualifications
- There is no requirement for prior industry experience; full training and support will be provided.
- Desirable: interest in engineering, good hand-eye coordination, mechanical aptitude.
- Skills: able to work in a team; attention to detail; ability to follow instructions; good communication skills.
- Qualifications: GCSE Science, Maths, and English at level 4 (essential for Maths and English; Science is desirable).
- Course and Delivery
- Course: Engineering and Manufacturing Support Technician (Level 3).
- Route: Engineering and manufacturing apprenticeship.
- Training Provider: Bedford College.
- Working Arrangements
- Working Week: Monday to Thursday, 9:00am–5:00pm; Friday, 9:00am–2:30pm (30-minute lunch).
- Expected Duration: 3 years 6 months.
Location: Sharnbrook, with potential site work at customer locations in the UK and internationally.
