An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Head of Hard Services to take overall responsibility for engineering and technical operations across a diverse London property portfolio.
This is a senior leadership position with responsibility for maintaining high technical and compliance standards, developing a strong engineering team and ensuring buildings remain safe, reliable and efficiently operated. You'll work closely with Property and Facilities teams, clients, contractors and other stakeholders, playing a key role in both operational delivery and wider asset performance.
The Role:
You'll have overall ownership of Hard Services delivery across the portfolio, covering planned, reactive and emergency maintenance, statutory compliance, contractors and technical performance.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading, developing and engaging a high-performing technical team.
- Setting clear standards around accountability, ownership and service delivery.
- Ensuring all statutory, regulatory and technical compliance requirements are met.
- Overseeing planned, reactive and emergency maintenance across multiple properties.
- Managing and challenging contractors and suppliers against agreed KPIs and service standards.
- Managing service contracts, variations, expenditure and overall value for money.
- Working closely with Property and Facilities Managers to resolve technical issues and improve client experience.
- Providing technical input into asset planning, lifecycle requirements and operational improvements.
- Identifying opportunities to improve processes, standards and ways of working.
- Ensuring effective communication across internal teams, clients, contractors and other stakeholders.
About You:
You'll be an experienced Hard FM, Engineering or Building Services professional with strong technical credibility and proven leadership experience within a multi-site property environment.
You'll ideally have:
- Proven experience leading Hard FM, engineering or building services across a multi-site portfolio.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical and HVAC systems.
- A relevant engineering qualification such as City & Guilds, NVQ or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of statutory maintenance and compliance requirements.Experience managing contractors, suppliers and technical service contracts.
- Good commercial awareness, including interpreting contractual and financial information.
- Strong negotiation, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- A full UK driving licence.
Experience within a landlord, managing agent, commercial property or property management environment would be particularly valuable. The Opportunity:
