RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:- Maintain high professional standards of attendance, punctuality, appearance and conduct.
- Develop positive and courteous relationships with students, parents and colleagues.
- Plan and deliver high-quality Design & Technology lessons that inspire students and support excellent progress across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5.
- Support students in developing their understanding of the design process, including research, analysis, ideation, modelling, prototyping, testing, evaluation and iterative development.
- Contribute to the teaching of specialist Design & Technology areas, which may include Product Design, Engineering, Textiles, Food Preparation and Nutrition, CAD/CAM, electronics, depending on experience.
- Ensure that schemes of work are followed, reviewed and developed to maintain high standards of teaching and learning.
- Keep up to date with developments in Design & Technology, including new materials, emerging technologies, sustainability, industry practice and curriculum developments, ensuring best practice is adopted within the department.
- Promote safe working practice within all Design & Technology learning spaces, including workshops, food rooms, textiles spaces and CAD/CAM areas.
- Support the maintenance of a safe, organised and purposeful learning environment, including the appropriate use, care and storage of tools, equipment and materials.
- Ensure that individual pupil progress is regularly assessed, recorded and used to inform future teaching.
- Provide effective feedback to students and parents on progress, giving clear guidance for improvement in accordance with the school’s procedures.
- Promote Design & Technology within the school, encouraging student interest, confidence and participation in the subject both within the curriculum and beyond it.
- Contribute to wider departmental enrichment opportunities, which may include competitions, clubs, exhibitions, trips, industry links, enterprise projects and STEM/design-related events.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to share resources, develop curriculum materials and support the continued growth and success of the Design & Technology department.
- To undertake any other duties as may be reasonably required by the Head of Department or Headteacher.
