Newstaff Employment is hiring an experienced Bookkeeper / Administrator in Luton to join a successful and friendly local business. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified bookkeeper who enjoys a varied role, working closely with the company accountant while supporting general office administration. You’ll be part of a lively, positive team with strong long‑term prospects.

Location: Luton

Salary: £25,000 – £33,000, per annum (negotiable based on experience)

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm (1‑hour lunch break)

Job Type: Full‑time, Permanent

Key Responsibilities:

  • Record day‑to‑day financial transactions including purchases and payments.
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable.
  • Process payroll accurately and to schedule.
  • Complete VAT returns and ensure financial compliance.
  • Reconcile accounts and maintain accurate financial documentation.
  • Place orders, raise invoices, and track outstanding payments.
  • Respond to general accounts queries and handle administrative duties.
  • Provide essential office support while working as part of a friendly, collaborative team.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Qualified Bookkeeper (AAT or equivalent).
  • Strong administrative skills and excellent organisational ability.
  • Confident communicator with strong customer service skills.
  • IT literate with working knowledge of Sage 50 Accounts.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, multitask, and maintain accuracy.
  • Background in construction or a similar industry is desirable but not essential.
  • Positive team player with a proactive, can‑do approach.
