As a Content Editor Print, you will oversee the production of our Somerset print titles, ensuring every edition meets high standards of quality, accuracy and design. Working closely with editors and print production colleagues, you will shape pages, select and edit content, and continuously improve the look and feel of our newspapers and publications. This role sits at the heart of our print operation and plays a key role in how we serve local communities across Somerset.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce and edit print pages across Somerset titles, meeting daily and weekly deadlines
- Select, edit and place articles, supplements and weekly features
- Ensure high standards of layout, design and content, using InDesign, Photoshop and related tools
- Edit copy for accuracy, balance, legality and house style
- Work closely with editors, print production, advertising and planning teams
- Use new technology, including AI tools, to improve efficiency and workflows
- Ensure all content reflects local communities and complies with IPSO and legal standards
- Participate in rota working, including weekends, evenings and public holidays as required
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Experience working in a print or editorial production environment
- Strong sub-editing, headline writing and layout skills
- Confident using InDesign, Photoshop and other design-based applications
- Excellent attention to detail and understanding of editorial standards and law
- Comfortable working to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to adapt to new technology and ways of working
- Clear understanding of journalistic ethics and the IPSO Code of Practice
