Are you a creative editorial leader with a passion for storytelling and community engagement? Do you thrive in a fast-paced, multi-platform publishing environment? We’re looking for a dynamic Magazine Editor to lead our flagship Cotswold Life title.
As the editor of Cotswold Life magazine, you’ll be the ultimate guardian of the brand, shaping compelling content that resonates across print, digital, and social channels. You’ll drive audience engagement, uphold editorial excellence, and contribute to commercial growth. Cotswold Life is a celebrated lifestyle publication that captures the essence of the Cotswolds. Our magazine showcases the stories, people, and places that make the Cotswolds truly special. This is a pivotal role for someone with a strong editorial eye, digital acumen, and a deep understanding of what makes local lifestyle content sparkle.
While the role offers full remote working flexibility, the successful candidate will be based in or near the Cotswolds to support attendance at networking events and local engagements. Alternatively, employees are welcome to use our office located in Worcester.
Key Responsibilities
- Overseeing the editorial process from concept to publication, ensuring all content meets the highest standards of quality and relevance
- Managing and coordinating a team of contributors
- Collaborating with marketing and sales teams to align editorial content with business objectives
- Contributing to content planning and strategy
- Brand Stewardship: Networking and attending events in the region
- Digital & Social Strategy: Lead growth across social media in line with our Social Media Playbook and policy
- Operations & Compliance: Manage budgets, deadlines, and ensure adherence to IPSO and Newsquest’s Code of Conduct
- Community Engagement: Build strong relationships with readers, contributors, advertisers, and local stakeholders
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- Proven experience editing lifestyle or premium magazines
- Hold an NCTJ (National Council for the Training of Journalists) qualification
- Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills
- Strong leadership and management abilities
- Excellent organisational and multitasking skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Based in the Cotswolds
- Own vehicle and full UK driving licence
