Newsquest London is looking for an ambitious, driven Digital Audience Content Editor (ACE) to take a leading role in a burgeoning local news operation. This is a key leadership position at the heart of our digital newsroom. You will manage a team of reporters while taking ownership of a group of high-performing local news websites across London — including titles such as News Shopper, Your Local Guardian and the Romford Recorder. You will combine strong editorial judgement with a deep understanding of audience data, ensuring a constant flow of high-quality content that serves our communities while hitting and stretching digital targets.

Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and develop a team of reporters, including regular one-to-ones, coaching and performance tracking
- Take daily conferences and oversee story output, ensuring a consistent pipeline of strong local content
- Edit, publish and optimise stories to maximise reach, engagement and loyalty
- Drive performance across a group of local websites, aiming to hit monthly digital targets
- Use SEO, social media and analytics tools to optimise content performance
- Work closely with print and digital teams to ensure a strong flow of content across platforms
- Play a key role in driving innovation, including the use of AI tools and new workflows in the newsroom.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise:
Essential:
- Strong digital news judgement and a proven track record in online publishing
- Experience editing copy and managing story output in a fast‑paced newsroom
- Confidence in managing or mentoring reporters
- Strong understanding of audience analytics and how to grow traffic and engagement
- Excellent writing and editing skills, with a firm grasp of media law and IPSO standards
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritise effectively
Desirable:
- Experience working across multiple titles or regions
- Knowledge of SEO, Google Trends and social media growth strategies
- Experience using AI tools to support newsroom efficiency
- Previous experience in a leadership or senior reporter role
