BUSINESSiQ is growing, and we need the right person to drive that growth. This isn't a replacement role. It's a new position created because the commercial opportunity is there and we need someone to go after it. You’ll own the commercial output of BUSINESSiQ across the magazine, the Impact campaign, and the Awards. One brand. Full ownership. No split priorities. If you win new business by building real relationships, knowing your market, and staying in front of the right people, this is worth your time.

The role: You’ll be the dedicated commercial voice for BUSINESSiQ, working closely with the Business and Commercial Editor across all revenue activity. That means identifying opportunities, opening doors, and converting relationships into long‑term partnerships with senior decision-makers across the North East. You’ll be out on the patch regularly. Meetings, events, networking. This isn't a desk role dressed up as field sales. In year one, success looks like building a structured pipeline from the ground up, winning anchor partnerships, and establishing yourself as the go-to commercial contact for the North East business community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive new business across the North East, targeting senior decision-makers in the B2B market
  • Take full ownership of BUSINESSiQ's commercial portfolio: magazine, Impact campaign, and Awards
  • Build and manage a pipeline, converting leads into long-term commercial relationships
  • Create tailored solutions for clients, consultatively, not off a rate card
  • Represent BUSINESSiQ at events and in the market as the face of the brand commercially
  • Work closely with editorial to keep commercial activity aligned with the brand's direction
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • A proven B2B sales track record, ideally in media, publishing, or a commercial environment
  • A genuine new business hunter who creates opportunities rather than waiting for them
  • Existing connections in the North East business community are a real advantage
  • Confident with senior stakeholders and able to hold a commercial conversation at that level
  • Self-directed, managing your own time across office, home, and field days
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle

  • Competitive salary + uncapped commission
  • 25 days holiday + bank holidays + your birthday off
  • Holiday buy scheme for extra flexibility
