Description

LOCALiQ, part of Newsquest Media Group, the UK’s leading local publisher, is on the lookout for a motivated, driven Business Development Consultant to join our team covering the Mid Wales Region.
With access to over 200 trusted news brands, an award-winning events division, and cutting-edge digital marketing solutions, LOCALiQ helps businesses connect with their audiences like never before. To support our continued growth, we’re looking for someone ready to represent our suite of digital products and our renowned title, The County Times.

Key Responsibilities

This is a varied and rewarding role where you’ll be selling a suite of LOCALiQ’s digital marketing services and print advertising solutions. You’ll take a consultative approach to sales – building strong, lasting relationships with clients by understanding their needs and offering tailored solutions. You’ll manage your own territory and sales pipeline, actively identifying and reaching out to potential clients, converting new prospects, and maintaining a steady flow of business. Success in the role means meeting and exceeding set targets and KPIs, using a mix of video calls, phone outreach, and in-person meetings to build rapport and close deals. You’ll also take care of a number of key accounts, ensuring clients receive excellent service and measurable results.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

What we’re looking for:
We’re looking for a confident and proactive sales professional who thrives on creating connections and securing new business. While experience in sales, media, or marketing would be ideal, we’re just as interested in your mindset, resilience, adaptability, and a genuine passion for helping clients succeed are key. You’ll need to be comfortable working independently across a defined region, managing your workload effectively, and spotting new opportunities along the way. If you have a background or interest in forestry, farming or agriculture sectors, that’s a bonus but certainly not a requirement. For this field-based role, you will require a full UK driving licence along with access to a vehicle.
What the role involves:
  • Business to Business sales via telephone, video and face to face meetings to prospective clients
  • Selling digitally-led solutions best suited to the customer’s needs, established by effective questioning and information gathering with the client
  • Conducting efficient research into the customers’ business or vertical.
  • Selling and maximising marketing spend from a given category or territory by continuous sourcing of new or lapsed business.
  • Developing “series” multimedia led revenues through self-generated calls utilising lapsed customer reports, case studies, new business lead lists
  • Establishing and maintaining a high standard of customer relations, service, and goodwill at all times with all customers.
  • Growing unique customer count through effective territory management and competitor management
  • Sourcing new business opportunities from multiple sources and recognising new business opportunities

Job Benefits

  • No weekends or evening work
  • Hybrid working
  • Uncapped Commission Scheme
  • Workplace Pension
  • Perks & Discounts via “Newsquest Benefits”
  • Opportunities for team building and training days
  • Full 25 days paid holiday + statutory bank holidays + your birthday day off!
  • Structured career progression, ongoing training, and personal performance reviews
  • Discount Vouchers
  • Discounted Gym membership
  • Cycle to Work scheme
  • Mental Health Support via Lifeworks
  • Eye test vouchers plus ÂŁ50 towards new glasses
  • Annual volunteer charity day
If you are charismatic and enjoy a challenge, then this is the role for you. This position provides an exciting work environment, with an uncapped commission structure, individual ongoing training, and a real opportunity for career progression.
