We’re looking for a dynamic Deputy News Editor who can build on the East Anglian Daily Times and Ipswich Star's online growth, while also ensuring our thousands of print readers get rich storytelling in their daily paper. We are looking for a creative, digitally savvy operator who understands the needs of a modern newsroom and wants to help deliver the best stories to our audience. The ideal candidates would already be working on a news desk or be experienced senior reporters looking for the next step up. You’ll work with a team of journalists in our newsroom in Ipswich, Suffolk, to get the most out of their stories.
Key Responsibilities
- Grow the audience on the brands’ websites, drive digital subscriptions, help reporters cater to our loyal audience, and ensure our newsletters are of a high standard.
- Work alongside the rest of the newsdesk editors, motivating, mentoring and developing the reporting team.
- Help run the day-to-day news agenda, planning, investigations and campaigns.
- Lead the content mix for the two printed daily newspapers and step up to fulfil other editors’ duties when they are away.
