Department: Editorial. Location: High Wycombe. Salary: £32,800 plus bonus per year.

We are looking for a news editor or first-class reporter to help shape the agenda of a long-established and respected title with a growing digital audience. An exciting next step for a senior reporter ready to progress, or an ambitious journalist looking to build the skills needed to become an editor.

Working alongside the Regional Editor, you will play a central role in leading the newsroom day-to-day – driving coverage, supporting reporters and ensuring we deliver the best possible journalism across all platforms. You’ll be joining a strong, supportive team and following in the footsteps of our departing Audience and Content Editor, who has been promoted to the Oxford Mail.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead daily conference and set the news agenda
  • Present the news list to the Regional Editor
  • Edit and write stories ensuring high editorial standards
  • Support, coach and develop reporters
  • Create and deliver content plans
  • Contribute to homepage management, SEO, social media and newsletters
