We are seeking a commercially driven Media Sales Consultant to support the advertising strategy and revenue growth across our Scottish magazine portfolio. This pivotal role focuses on our flagship title, The Scottish Farmer, alongside two highly regarded specialist publications: Forestry Journal and essentialARB. The Scottish Farmer is part of the Newsquest Group and is a trusted, long-established brand with a loyal and passionate readership across Scotland and beyond. While the primary focus of the role is the Scottish market, there is scope to work with clients UK-wide, offering variety and wider commercial exposure.
You will join a long-standing, successful and collaborative sales team who genuinely value the brand and take pride in representing it. Working closely with colleagues across sales, editorial and marketing, you’ll help deliver effective, multi-platform advertising solutions that drive real value for our clients. This is a hybrid role, offering flexibility alongside regular in-person collaboration, typically 1–2 days per week in the Glasgow office, with the remainder worked remotely. As the role involves client visits and relationship management, candidates must hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a respected media brand while playing a key role in driving digital growth and long-term commercial success.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain a strong pipeline of advertising business across agriculture, forestry and arboriculture sectors, with a balance of existing accounts and new business development.
- Represent and sell the full portfolio of print, digital and multi-media advertising solutions, with a strong emphasis on digital revenue growth.
- Support the development and delivery of integrated, cross-platform campaigns, including print, digital display, sponsorships and bespoke solutions.
- Use a consultative, data-led approach to understand client objectives, create tailored proposals and demonstrate campaign performance and ROI.
- Work collaboratively with the wider sales team, editorial and marketing colleagues to ensure successful campaign delivery and strong client relationships.
- Contribute ideas and insight to identify new digital products, commercial opportunities and ways to innovate within the portfolio.
- Track, analyse and report on sales performance, market trends and pipeline activity to support revenue targets and business planning.
- Ensure all activity aligns with company policies, processes and performance expectations.

- Proven experience in media, magazine or advertising sales, ideally across both print and digital platforms.
- Confidence in managing key client relationships while actively winning new business.
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to identify opportunities for upsell and multi-channel solutions.
- A collaborative team player with the ability to support broader sales objectives.
- Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to engage professionally with clients and internal stakeholders.
- Comfortable using performance metrics, conversion data and insights to optimise campaigns and drive results.
- Well-organised, adaptable and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- An interest or understanding of agriculture, forestry or rural industries would be advantageous but is not essential.
