The Impartial Reporter is seeking a Reporter to join our award-winning newsroom in Enniskillen. For generations, The Impartial Reporter has been setting the news agenda across Fermanagh, South Tyrone and the Border region, holding those in power to account and championing the stories that matter most to our communities. This is an exciting opportunity for a journalist who is passionate about the future of news and the potential for artificial intelligence to enhance the way we produce and distribute journalism. Working at the forefront of innovation, you will combine traditional reporting skills with AI-powered tools to create engaging digital content, identify new audience opportunities and help grow our online reach. The successful candidate will play a key role in expanding our digital coverage across a range of subjects, from breaking news and public affairs to community stories, business, farming, sport and human-interest features. You will have strong news judgement, excellent writing skills and a clear understanding of what audiences want to read and share.
As our Reporter, you will learn how to utilise emerging technologies effectively while applying core journalistic principles to the sourcing, selection, verification and presentation of content. You will also work closely with the wider editorial team to ensure that all content produced meets the highest standards of accuracy, fairness and legal compliance.
Key Responsibilities- Work with AI-assisted tools to help create high-quality digital journalism while maintaining editorial standards and authenticity.
- Source stories and identify opportunities to expand our coverage into new subject areas and audiences.
- Produce engaging content for our website, social media channels and digital platforms.
- Ensure all content complies with media law, ethical standards, privacy requirements and Newsquest editorial policies.
- Monitor audience trends and analytics to identify content opportunities and drive readership growth.
- Utilise AI-powered workflows to improve efficiency while preserving the quality and integrity of our journalism.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of AI-assisted newsroom processes.
- Work closely with reporters, editors and digital colleagues to integrate AI-enhanced content into the newsroom.
- Stay informed about developments in journalism, technology and audience behaviour.

- A qualified journalist or an individual with strong journalism experience.
- Excellent writing, editing and storytelling skills.
- Strong news sense and the ability to identify compelling stories.

- Knowledge of media law, court reporting and public affairs would be advantageous.
