We have a great opportunity for a Print Apprentice to join our team in Eurocentral! This apprenticeship will provide you with hands‑on experience on how to maintain and operate a newspaper printing press whilst gaining a wider understanding of all Production functions within the business.
About the role
As a Print Apprentice, you’ll work towards achieving a Level 3 SVQ qualification accredited by the SQA (Scottish Qualification Authority) whilst working alongside our production teams to maintain and operate a newspaper printing press. You’ll gain hands‑on experience in:
- Print quality including colour control/fits and ink/damp balance
- Understanding of Plate identification
- Plate mounting and de‑plating using Power Plate
- Loading and manually understanding of Job Flat Plans
- Slitter operations
- Turbo operations (including cleaning and maintenance)
- Rotoclean operations (including cleaning and maintenance)
- Blanket bending/fitting and removal
You’ll receive on‑the‑job training under the guidance of experienced printers & engineers, complemented by academic coursework delivered by Print Scotland.
What we are looking for

- Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Detail‑oriented with a strong focus on safety and quality.
- The ability to work in a fast paced night shift environment
Training and Qualifications
Throughout your apprenticeship, you’ll work towards the Level 3 SVQ qualification. Your training will cover:
- Prepare Machines for Web Offset Printing
- Maintain Equipment in Working Order
- Set Up and Operate Auxiliary Equipment
