About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and confident Project Manager with a strong operational background in satellite manufacturing and build, ideally within the geospatial and space sectors. In this role, you will be overseeing the build and delivery of Earth Observation satellites.
This is a client-facing , highly autonomous role that demands technical fluency, proactive stakeholder management, and the confidence to drive project momentum, escalate issues, and ensure successful delivery of satellite programmes. You will play a highly importnant role for our client as you will act as the key conduit between them and a satellite manufacturer.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary interface between the satellite manufacturer and our client (Space company) internal stakeholders.
- Oversee day-to-day progress of the satellite builds, ensuring timelines, quality, and budgets are maintained.
- Monitor and report on project status, escalating risks and blockers where appropriate.
- Maintain a strong client-facing presence , often working daily with the client on-site and independently representing the company’s best interests.
- Ensure clear documentation, progress tracking, and reporting to internal and external stakeholders.
- Apply robust project management principles to keep project delivery on track.
- Act as a technical and process-savvy middleman between teams, ensuring alignment and resolution.
- Confidently validate information from partners based on deep understanding of satellite build processes.
- Build and manage relationships across technical, commercial, and executive teams within the satellite manufacturing and our client.
Required Experience & Skills
- Proven Project Management experience in the space or satellite sector , particularly in satellite build and operations.
- Operational focus – adept at managing the delivery side of complex technical programmes.
- Deep familiarity with satellite manufacturing, testing, and build processes .
- Experience within the satellite/ geospatial industry.
- Comfortable working autonomously onsite , often embedded with the client.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with a confident and assertive approach.
- Ability to understand technical language and challenge assumptions where appropriate.
- Excellent documentation, status reporting, and problem-solving capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Formal Project Management certification (e.g. PRINCE2, PMP, APM)
- Degree in Engineering, Aerospace, Space Systems, or similar
- Experience working within the space sector / satellite manufacturers
Other Requirements
- Must be UK-based or willing to relocate
- Full right to work in the UK
- Willingness to be onsite full time in Surrey
