Job Duties

  • Leading strategic management of commissioner contracts and specialised NHS income streams.
  • Managing the Trust’s annual income planning and long-term financial forecasting processes.
  • Overseeing monthly income assurance, validation, reconciliation, and financial reporting activities.
  • Developing and supervising the Income Team while maintaining excellent service delivery standards.
  • Advising senior executives on financial risks, policy changes, and income improvement strategies.
  • Representing the Trust during negotiations with NHS England, ICBs, DHSC, and healthcare providers.
  • Supporting financial modelling activities that strengthen long-term healthcare operational sustainability.
  • Ensuring accurate compliance with NHS payment systems, tariffs, and commissioning frameworks.

Job Requirements

  • A fully qualified accountant certification through CCAB or an equivalent professional body.
  • More than ten years of finance department experience, preferably within NHS healthcare organizations.
  • Extensive experience advising senior finance and non-finance stakeholders on complex financial matters.
  • Expert understanding of NHS payment systems, tariffs, coding, and commissioning arrangements.
  • Strong budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and strategic planning experience.
  • Excellent leadership abilities with experience managing high-performing finance teams effectively.
  • Knowledge of NHS financial systems, patient-level costing, and service line reporting processes.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, analytical, and stakeholder management capabilities across healthcare environments.
