Natural Resources Wales (NRW) is seeking an experienced Environment and Social Advisor to join its Communications, Customer and Commercial Directorate in North Wales, United Kingdom. This is a Skilled Worker visa–eligible role, open to qualified international professionals with expertise in environmental management, renewable energy projects, and sustainable land use. About the Role
This is a high-profile, outward-facing advisory role focused on enabling complex renewable energy and commercial developments across the NRW Managed Estate. You will act as a trusted environmental specialist, advising Developers, Programme Managers, and Project Teams to ensure projects are delivered responsibly, sustainably, and in line with the Sustainable Management of Natural Resources (SMNR) approach. The role involves influencing outcomes from early concept stages through to delivery, balancing biodiversity protection, climate priorities, and commercial objectives. Hybrid working is supported, with contractual attachment to an NRW office in North Wales and planned face-to-face engagement as required.

Responsibilities
- Provide expert environmental advice on habitat, access, and land-use issues for energy and commercial developments
- Review and interpret environmental documentation, including Environmental Statements and management plans
- Conduct site monitoring and liaise with Developers to manage risks and mitigation measures
- Contribute to technical and strategic working groups across NRW
- Ensure compliance with environmental planning conditions and statutory requirements
- Manage Habitat and Access Management Plan delivery programmes
- Act as contract manager for relevant supply and consultancy contracts
- Represent NRW at stakeholder, developer, and partnership meetings
- Promote best environmental practice aligned with SMNR principles
Requirements
- Degree in environmental science or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience
- Experience managing environmental issues within construction or infrastructure projects
- Strong knowledge of the UK and Welsh planning systems
- Understanding of climate change, sustainability, and biodiversity impacts
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- PRINCE2 Foundation/Practitioner certification or willingness to obtain
- Competency in IT tools, including Word, Excel, and GIS
- Full UK driving licence
- Welsh language ability at A1 (Entry Level) or willingness to learn
