Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer preferably apprentice trained to join Newsmiths industrial washing machine and handling engineering team.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong Mechanical engineering background and demonstrate proficiency in various engineering tasks.
Responsibilities
- Working with stainless steel sheet metal.
- Experience in Tig Welding is essential.
- Experience in polishing Tig welds and sheet metal joints.
- Experience in cutting and assembling box section/ angle frameworks.
- The ability to fit shafts/ bearings/ pumps/ gearboxes and general engineering tasks.
- Able to read & manufacture from 3D & Auto Cad drawings, ensuring you meet the required specifications and standards.
- Occasional working out on site for installations/ breakdowns as and when required.
Qualifications
- Skilled qualification in Mechanical Engineering/ Sheet metal work/ Tig Welding, HNC, BTEC, NVQ L3 or similar.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands‑on experience.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills to convey technical information.
