The Team: Times Podcasts is responsible for designing and producing podcasts that match the breadth, depth, and dynamism of journalism in The Times and The Sunday Times. The team is expanding to test new podcast ideas and develop a diverse podcast portfolio covering topics from politics to sport. We are seeking Senior Producers to lead programme makers and develop new talent.
Your role: As a Sr Podcast Producer, reporting to the Editor of Times Podcasts, you will identify, pitch, and develop compelling podcast series, often in partnership with talent, correspondents, and producers. You will collaborate with some of Britain’s leading journalists to create audio content that sets the news agenda and offers new perspectives on major stories.
Day-to-day responsibilities:
- Identify existing internal podcast opportunities and produce new original podcasts, including daily and serialized storytelling.
- Manage podcast productions, including budgets, staffing, and creative aspects.
- Work with staff on digital podcast best practices.
- Partner with cross-network teams on marketing, sales, and communication strategies.
- Forward plan and generate fresh ideas.
- Potentially work unsociable hours, including weekends.
- Work independently with the capacity to approve material and instruct others.
Qualifications and skills:
- You are a proactive, organized Sr Producer with excellent multitasking skills.
- You have a proven track record in audio storytelling, ideally with experience in producing successful podcasts or radio programs.
- Exceptional recording and editing skills, familiarity with advanced editing software.
- Video editing skills are a plus.
- Detailed knowledge of UK journalism legal frameworks and industry guidelines.
- Excellent writing skills and strong, creative ideas for compelling content.
- Ability to work confidently in a fast-paced environment and adapt to change.
- Ability to build long-lasting professional relationships.
- Effective communication skills, able to work closely with presenters and team members.
