Sales Manager – The Times and Sunday Times

12 Month FTC

The Team: The Times has had a fantastic year as a brand hitting budget with print successfully dominating market share amongst the quality market & seeing YOY growth, and our digital business growing exponentially. The brand has diversified into new channels, such as launching Times Radio & we are winning and delivering more & more integrated & innovative cross- platform partnerships.

Your Role: You will sell display & content solutions across all Times platforms to include digital and print display, branded content, video, audio (including podcasts) and events to your agency groups. You will be responsible for growing & developing your clients, driving revenue, & building strong relationships at all levels within trading and planning teams, whilst always providing excellent customer service.

The Role:

  • Primarily responsible for driving revenue & selling market- leading solutions across all platforms within an allocated set of agencies and clients
  • Maintaining excellent relationships with your agency patch across all levels and clearly articulating & selling the features & benefits of working with The Times & Sunday Times.

  • Responding to cross- platform display and content briefs incorporating all products across all platforms to a high-standard

  • Delivery of pro-active Times sponsorships & cross-platform initiatives to market

  • Confidently deliver & hit against expected KPI’s in order to maintain high levels of sales activity

  • Collaborate across internal commercial teams to seek out, sell and implement new revenue opportunities.

  • Define ambitious growth objectives for the agency portfolio through an articulate business plan.

  • What we’re looking for from you:

  • Proven track record of success within a media sales environment to selling across multiple platforms.
  • Excellent understanding of agency structure, buying process and broad contact base.

  • Strong understanding of all both digital and print: display, branded content, social, programmatic and operational delivery

  • Able to pull together & create advanced communications to clients in decks & schematics when responding to a brief

  • Confidence in chairing and leading meetings and present our brand to large groups of people

  • Ability to interrogate briefs effectively and constructively criticise where necessary to elicit more pertinent information

  • Big picture thinking – confidence to work with other News UK brands and personnel outside of day-to-day role where necessary to deliver incremental revenue

  • Tenacity in sourcing new potential clients, influencing buying decisions and strong experience in negotiation.

  • Able to ideate, build and deliver cross platform solutions informed by proprietary data and insight to agencies, utilising the correct products to meet the clients KPI’s

  • Ability to utilise media research and measurement systems (Pamco, IPSOS, NRS, TGI) with confidence.

  • Experience of working within a changing environment with a positive approach to new opportunities.

  • A real passion and understanding of the role newsbrands plays in society and the media landscape.
