Role Overview: As a Video Editor in Sun Originals, you will be a key player in crafting compelling proactive video content for our sport, showbiz and Fabulous content strands that drive views and engagement across digital platforms. You will work closely with commissioning editors, producers, and the social team, ensuring that the longer-format stories we create captivate and engage our growing digital audience. This is an opportunity for a passionate editor who can work quickly and bring creative flair to content that resonates in the digital age.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Video Editing & Production: Edit daily video content for our sport and Fabulous content strands in a quick and efficient manner. Demonstrating versatility by editing everything from narrative documentary-style pieces and game show formats to short, graphics-driven social videos. Projects will range from quick-turnaround clips to longer-form stories, demanding both high editorial quality and speed.
- Platform-Specific Optimization: Tailor content for multiple platforms, particularly YouTube, our website, and social media channels, optimising for views, shares, and overall audience engagement.
- Collaboration: Work closely with video producers and social media teams to understand the editorial direction and ensure video content supports wider newsroom goals.
- Post-Production Technicals: Manage media, handle multi-camera projects, create and animate graphics, perform color grading, and execute advanced audio design. Leverage these technical skills to maintain efficiency and uphold brand consistency throughout the post-production process.
- Audience Engagement: Stay on top of what drives audience interest online and incorporate that knowledge into video edits, optimising content for clicks, views, and engagement.
Ideal Candidate:
- Experienced Video Editor: You have hands-on experience editing in a large, fast-paced television or digital media environment. You understand how to balance speed with quality and are an expert narrative teller.
- Digital Native: You’re immersed in the digital landscape, with a strong understanding of YouTube, social media platforms, and how audiences engage with video content online.
- Platform-Savvy: You know how to edit for different platforms, particularly YouTube, and understand how to optimize content for each one to increase traffic and engagement.
